LiteHeat™ HFP forms a floor heating system that consists of ultra-thin heating elements, specifically tailored to your cabin’s dimensions. Installed underneath the floor’s finishing material, the system is completely invisible and warms the cabin with homogeneous infrared radiation.
HeatNOW™ is a retrofittable underfloor heating system powered by LiteHeat which can be easily integrated virtually anywhere in the aircraft to eliminate cold spots - an instantly noticeable increase in comfort your passengers and crew are going to love!
With LiteHeat™ HWP a new level of comfort can be reached in your cabin. Based on our ultra-thin heater layer technology, the system is designed to turn cabin sidewall panels into large-scale infrared emitting elements, while leaving the outer appearance completely unchanged. The system is designed to eliminate local cold spots and reduce thermal insulation, resulting in reduced weight and hence a reduction in fuel burn.
An advanced heating technology for aircraft cabins that sets new standards in thermal comfort
The patented infrared (IR) radiation cabin heating system can provide the same level of thermal comfort on board that you would expect at home. An IR source transfers heat to a body or object at a distance, just like the sun warms Earth. It is therefore a pleasant and comfortable experience for passengers. If contact heat is required, LiteHeat systems can be manufactured to reduce the infrared emissions and generate contact heat only. After activation of the LITEHEAT system an even, full-face heat is generated instantlyand the passenger immediately experiences pleasant IR heating.
Application LITEHEAT has unique, customized electrical heating elements that can be applied as an ultra-thin layer (<0.2 mm thick; <150 g/m2 additional weight) to a selected surface and shaped to precisely match the shape and geometry of the component. The LITEHEAT heaters become completely invisible thanks to the subsequent application with a surface material selected by the customer. When applied to the back of a side wall, the external appearance of the panel remains unchanged.
LITEHEAT can transform various parts and surfaces in the cabin, such as side walls, ceilings, floors, doors, instrumant panels and more, into large-area infrared heaters without changing their shape or appearance in any way. Whether LITEHEAT technology is used to improve passenger comfort in general, or simply to eliminate cold spots in the cabin, it allows you to provide the thermal comfort you've always dreamed of.
Efficiency LITEHEAT is much more energy-efficient than conventional electrical heating systems. For this reason, the technology is also used in electric vehicles, as it has been proven to require 30 to 70 % less energy.
Cabin Pre-Heat LITEHEAT can also be used to preheat the cabin with Ground Power without the need for an APU or running the engine. This can be a great comfort advantage for passengers and crew, especially in the cold season when the aircraft is parked outside or in a poorly heated hanger.
Similar to paint, the heater layer is applied on the surface as an ultra-thin coating (<0.2 mm thickness; <150g/m2 added weight) and matches the exact shape and geometry of the part. Once covered with any kind of finishing material chosen by the customer, LITEHEAT heaters become completely imperceptible. When applied to the back of a sidewall panel, for example, the outward appearance of the panel is unchanged. As voltage is applied to the heater layer, an even, full-face heat is generated instantly and the passenger immediately experiences pleasant IR heating.
Besides increasing cabin comfort and reducing power consumption, another advantage of LITEHEAT systems is their self-controlling effect that prevents surface hot spots, or an uncontrolled local heat build-up. Furthermore, LITEHEAT systems have a very high damage tolerance and can be easily repaired or replaced in case of severe damage.
Put simply: LITEHEAT converts various parts and surface areas in the cabin, such as sidewall panels, ceilings, floors, doors, instrument panels, and more, into large scale infrared radiators, without changing their shape or appearance in any way.
Whether LITEHEAT technology is used to fully replace bleed air in your airplane or to simply get rid of cold spots inside the cabin – Thermal comfort is boosted to a whole new level.

LITEHEAT systems provide an even, full-face heating process and offer a high infrared emission. Infrared (IR) radiation transfers heat to a body or an object without the need of direct contact between the heat source and the object. Other than convection heat (state oft he art air vents), infrared radiation warms the human body directly, just like the warm-up process given by the sun.
herefore, heat is not only felt when touching the heated surface, but the passenger also experiences pleasant and homogeneous radiation heat.
If mainly contact heat is desired, LITEHEAT systems can be manufactured in a way that only contact heat is generated.
Villinger GmbH and Lufthansa Technik AG are pleased to announce that a supplemental type certificate (STC) according to CS25 for the aircraft floor heating system "HeatNow" which has been approved for virtually all current large passenger aircraft.
HeatNow is an underfloor heating system powered by an efficient and ultra-thin LITEHEAT heating layer which is retrofittable, easy to install which can be integrated virtually anywhere in the aircraft to improve comfort in critical areas.
And finally, flight attendants - who have to sit on the JumpSeat near an often-draughty entrance door during take-off and landing - no longer have to freeze or run the risk of catching a cold, just like passengers sitting near an emergency exit. But also, in general, an aircraft cabin is a big pipe, which is known to be difficult to reach anywhere in comfort without creating unpleasant drafts. But with the "Heat Now" system you can now create a comfort like at home - and even beautifully equipped business jets finally get the feel-good climate they deserve.
